Getting To Know Your 3d 4d Ultrasound

When you hear pregnancy ultrasounds, what comes into your mind? It is those black, grey and blurry images right? Though they are not in detail, it is still exciting to see. However, did you know that pregnancy ultrasounds have already evolved? They can actually give you more detailed images that are lovelier and more exciting to look at compared to the traditional ultrasound images.

A 3D 4D ultrasound scan is a more detailed version of the 2D scan. This scan allows parents to have a clearer glimpse of their unborn baby. Instead of them seeing just the insides of the baby, using a 3D 4D scan, the actual skin of the baby can now be seen. Aside from that, when viewing the screen during the ultrasound, a three dimensional image is now present, together with the movements inside the womb. So it is possible that you might capture your baby giving a yawn. Nonetheless, the most important benefit it can give is regarding the unborn childs health. Through the 3D 4D scans, more information about possible abnormalities can be recognized. Like for example, the cleft lip can be detected as early as inside the womb. Undergoing a 3D 4D scan is similar to experiencing a 2D scan. You just have to lie down while the trained professional will place a water base gel on top of your belly. After that, a handheld probe will be used to move around the area.

As amazing as it sounds, 3D 4D scan has its drawback. This kind of ultrasound is very expensive that is why it is just optional and not part of the standard prenatal test. Though it is not required, 3D 4D ultrasound for twins can be significant. Mainly because compared to other kinds of pregnancy, twins are more likely to have medical complications.

Even though ultrasounds during pregnancy are not found to be harmful, it should only be done when medically prescribed and with a trained professional. So what is best time for 3D 4D ultrasound? It is when you are between 26-30 weeks of pregnancy. This is because on your 26 week, your baby only has small fats and it is possible that during the scan your babys facial bones will show through. On the other hand, it is likely that during the 30th week of pregnancy the babys head is already near the pelvis. Thus, if you do not want to waste your ultrasound, have a scan between those weeks.

Considering all the benefits of this scan, particularly 3D 4D ultrasound for twins, keep in mind that it is not a necessity. There are a lot of things to consider, specifically the cost of this procedure. Also, dont just decide to do this just because you want to see what your baby looks like inside the womb. Remember, no matter how exciting it is; nothing can beat the feeling after they are born and you finally see them face to face.
